Just about two weeks have passed by since the final “Live” period of the AAU circuit came to a close. Plenty of offers and recruiting attention has come the way of the area and Central Texas talent. We give you a quick recap of those risers who now have new offers or interest to report.
Clevon Brown (Churchill HS)
His play at the Duncanville GASO opened eyes from scouts and college coaches across the land. He is San Antonio’s next national recruit and now has offers from the likes of Texas, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, Georiga Tech, Illinois, SMU, Rice, and Miami, all of who have made his Top 10 that he just announced.
Jarrett Allen (St. Stephen’s Episcopal HS)
A 6’10” dominating low post from Austin, is rated by Scouthoops.com as a 5 Star “Blue Chip” prospect and the #11 prospect in the entire nation for the ’16 class. It’s easier to say who hasn’t offered him. Has his choice of national program with offers from: Kansas, North Carolina, Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Texas A&M, and many others. He proved every bit of his rating by dominating in the GASO and Adidad Up Rising Tourney in Vegas.
Brandon Armstrong (Brackenridge HS)
Picked up his first offer from New Hampshire, then followed that with an offer from Scott Cross and UTA. Would be an absolute steal for a low major program.
Armani Brooks (McNeil HS)
Next to Clevon Brown, was the second biggest riser in the Cen-Tex area, picking up offers from UTEP, Houston, Kansas State, Tulsa and Creighton. He lit the nets on fire at Duncanville.
Zac Saddler (New Braunfels)
Another baller who showed his stuff at the GASO. His play nabbed him his first two offers: UTRGV and Evansville extended the 6’6″ combo wing/stretch four.
Charles Johnson (Warren HS)
St. Edwards is the first program to extend to the 6’5″ wing.
Jordan Burns (Marshall HS)
Had an offer from Colgate, but decided to commit to Midwestern State (OK).
Dorian Lopez (Marshall HS)
Like his high school teammate, he decided to make a decision. Lopez committed to Oklahoma Christian University.
Jalon Gates (Clemens HS)
Showed he’s the most deadly shooter from beyond the arc in Greater SA. Shot his way to an offer with Houston Baptist stepping up.
Jake Krafka (Buda Hays)
Denver University has offered the 6’5″ shooting guard from Central Texas.
Kobe Magee (Brandeis HS)
The lightning quick point guard has bulked up a bit, and continues to dissect anyone in front of him. Has 4 offers: UTEP, UTSA, LIU, and Sam Houston State. Recently took an unofficial of SHSU and liked what the Bearkats had to show.
Greg Bowie II (Johnson HS)
Can play either the point spot or the off guard. A list of local and regional schools, stemming from C-USA, the Sun Belt and the Southland have all offered: Texas State, UTEP, UTSA, Sam Houston State, Incarnate Word, UTA
Marco Anthony (Holmes HS)
Picked up 4 offers once contact started: UTSA, Mercer, LIU, and Sam Houston State. Is part of a ’17 class for Greater San Antonio that is absolutely loaded.
River Reed (Reagan HS)
Standing right at 6’8″, has worked on his defense and ability to play down low. Still needs to add weight and strength, but because of his shot, transitions into a very capable stretch four. Has 2 offers: Incarnate Word and SFA.
Shelby Adams (Judson HS)
As a sophomore our staff saw him plenty of times and on a loaded Judson team, he always stood out. College coaches are now noticing and two offers have come in for the shooting guard: Texas State and Sam Houston State.
Frank Harris (Clemens HS)
The question sis, will he stick with basketball or football, or both at the next level. He and Kobe Magee are arguably the quickest point guards in the area. Will play lock down defense and is super athletic for a point. Houston Baptist has offered him and Clemens teammate Jalon Gates.
Gerald Liddell (Steele HS)
The next “Blue Chip” recruit to come out of the 210. Is only a sophomore and has offers from high major programs such as: Texas, Baylor, North Carolina State, and Florida State. SMU and Houston have also offered, with plenty more on the way for the 6’6″ 175lb wing.
**Tristan Clark (Findaly Prep/NV)
He would be included in our list and would most likely be the #1 prospect in our 2017 Alamo City Hoops Top 10 rankings, but he’s now transferred from Judson and is headed out to the most acclaimed prep school west of the Mississippi. The 6’8″ big man had a breakout summer circuit and now has offers from: Rice, Incarnate Word, UTEP, New Mexico, Creighton, and UNLV.
